Step 1: Install XAMPP on your Windows computer 

To start the proceeding, first, download the XAMPP from the apachefriends.org (it’s a dedicated project to spread the apache server and home for XAMPP). Now, it’s time to download the XAMPP. Since you are running Windows as the dedicated operating system, click on XAMPP for Windows to download the file for running.

Once you have installed the XAMPP for Windows operating system, it’s time to run the XAMPP on your computer. There are five different ports here. But for the technical purpose, you will start only two of them, Apache and MySQL, because both are essential to running WordPress.

Step 2: Generate a database

Once you have successfully installed XAMPP on your computer, it’s time to create a new database. To do this, go to your browser and write localhost/PHPMyAdmin. Next, click on New, located on the left side. Now, Provide your new database a name in the Database name box, then press the Create button. Your new database will be created.

Next, download WordPress from the official WordPress website. Unwrap the zipped WordPress file when the download is completed. It’s up to you whether you rename the file or keep it as WordPress.

After downloading and unwrapping the WordPress file on your computer, we have set the unzipped WordPress file name as sitetest.

Step 4: Install and configure WordPress

Next, head over to the XAMPP directory and find the htdocs folder. Now, paste the newly named unzipped WordPress file ‘sitetest’ there.

Now, you are going to start configuring WordPress. To do this, move onto your browser and write localhost/sitetest (it’s because we have renamed the file) and hit ‘Enter’ button of your keyboard . Next, select the language for your new WordPress website. Here, English is set as the default language. Now, click on Continue.

Once you have landed on the next page, provide your database name in the Database Name box. Give the Username as root and leave the Password option blank. The other two options will remain the same as the default. Lastly, click on the Submit button.

Step 5: Provide admin information to finish the WordPress installation process

In this step, you must provide all the required Admin information to finish the WordPress installation process. Once you are done, click on Install WordPress shown on the footer of the page.
