After installing and activating the HelpGent plugin in the WordPress dashboard, now it’s time to create simple forms in WordPress using HelpGent. First, I will explain the technique of creating forms from scratch, and then I’ll show you how to use pre-built templates to make the process faster and more efficient.

A. Creating simple forms from scratch

Whenever you need to gather data and require a high level of customization, this method is perfect for that. Whether it’s for lead generation, data collection, or conducting a survey, you can customize it to your specific preferences. Now, let’s take a look at how to use this method and create a simple form.

Step 1: Accessing HelpGent in the WordPress Dashboard

After the installation, you need to click HelpGent from the Dashboard menu to access its full features.

Step 2: Initiating a New Form

Now, from the HelpGent dashboard, select All Forms ➤ Create New. This will open two more options: Create From Scratch and Start From A Template. In this part, we will choose to Create From Scratch.

Step 2: Initiating a New Form

Step 3: Naming Your Form and Enabling Features

When you choose Create From Scratch, you’ll be prompted to Form Name. In this window, you’ll also see an Enable Form Bubble option for a customizable chat bubble. If you enable this, it will open a new option, Display on specific pages, where you can choose the pages you want to display the bubble head; otherwise, it will be shown by default on every page.

Step 3: Naming Your Form and Enabling Features

Step 4: Active the form

After creating the form, you must activate it by clicking Active from the All Forms section to use it on your website. You can still customize it even if it’s not active, but activation is necessary for using it on your website.

Step 4: Active the form

Step 5: Exploring the HelpGent Dashboard

The dashboard is divided into four sections at the top of the form editing section. First is the Editor, where you can visually design your form. Then, there is the Settings option, which configures general form settings like notifications and integrations. In the top right corner is the Preview option, where you can see how your form will look to visitors. Finally, there is Publish, which makes your form live on your website.

Step 5: Exploring the HelpGent Dashboard

Step 6: Adding and Customizing Form Elements

“In the Editor, you will find a variety of form elements on the left sidebar. You can Add New elements from Basic, Contact, Choices, Answers, Welcome & End, Security, and Rating & Ranking. Each section has many elements to choose from. The right sidebar allows you to customize each element, including adding media or recording videos.

Step 6: Adding and Customizing Form Elements

Step 7: Styling Your Form’s Design Section

The Design section in the right sidebar provides a range of options to match your website’s aesthetic. It helps you customize Font, Color, Image, and other design aspects to make your form visually appealing.

Step 7: Styling Your Form's Design Section

Step 8: Implementing Conditional Logic

If you need to create dynamic forms, explore the Logic section. Here, you can set up conditional rules that change the form’s behavior based on user responses.

B. Creating simple forms from templates

Creating forms from scratch provides great flexibility and customization, but it takes time to match your brand or goal. Pre-designed templates offer shortcuts for users, allowing for a quick and polished solution.

Step 1: Choosing the Right Template

HelpGent offers a variety of pre-designed templates. To access them, navigate to HelpGent ➤ All Forms ➤ Create New ➤ Start From A Template. You can choose from a Job Application Form, Appointment Request Form, Student Admission Form, WordPress Community Survey, Product/Service Reviews and Ratings, and Customer Satisfaction Survey. Additional templates will be included in the next update.

Step 1: Choosing the Right Template

Step 2: Customizing the Template

After selecting your desired template, you can personalize it to create your own form. Add or remove pre-built elements and adjust the layout to suit your needs. Additionally, you can modify the labels, Elements, Design, Logic, and validation rules to align with your data collection requirements. Furthermore, you can customize the brand Color, Fonts, Image or Video, and other visual elements to ensure they align with your website on computers, Tab/Pads, or Smartphones.

Step 2: Customizing the Template

Step 3: Publishing and Previewing Your Form

Before you publish the form, you can check it in Preview mode. In the preview window, you will find buttons on the right side at the bottom, from where you can forward or backward your form questions. If everything looks good, you can go ahead and Publish it, or you can edit it if needed. Even after you publish it, you can update it anytime.

Step 3: Publishing and Previewing Your Form
